Thank you WIGenealogy, for posting this obituary for my 2x Great Uncle. Edmund Philip Stilson came West to West Salem, WI after the Civil War, from West Meredith, NY, where his father, Moses and grandfather, Nathan Stilson had come West from New Milford, CT after the Revolution, in 1793. Moses then married a younger woman from Williamstown, MA, Charlotte Mary Foster, daughter of David Foster, a Patriot, and Mayflower descendant of Elder William Brewster of Plymouth, Massachusetts.
“Philip” as he was known, had brought his widowed mother, Charlotte Stilson, to West Salem until her passing in 1869.
I am so grateful to discover these words of his passing in the community to which he retired in those eventful days.
